Reality vs Illusion

Time

Time Is linear; we cannot bend it like we have seen in science fiction movies. It is an intangible asset. It is limited, and when it is about life, it can be measured in Lifetime. But, unfortunately, none of us can be very sure of it.

Most often, we measure time with respect to the goals and plans we have for our life. For instance, I have 3 years to prepare for civil services, two months for the exam, and so on. Just thinking that I have that much time is a foolish contemplation because time may never give us the chance to do what we want to do in our life.  This can be better put in the words of Seneca "It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it has been given in sufficiently generous measure to allow the accomplishment of the very greatest things if the whole of it is well invested."

In his book "On the Shortness of Life", Seneca also talks about 'Preoccupation'. Many people occupy their time with things that are not important. In this world of advertisement, people find themselves attracted to material life. If you think about it, you will notice that it is limitless. Unlimited love is a great thing but not unlimited desires. These desires push people to be preoccupied with different activities, and that's what Seneca attributed to the reason for the shortness of life. If you prune your life just like we prune a tree, you will start making time. What else do we need!

Time is life, and life is time. What you do in your life is directly proportionate to the utilization of time. When time is given the booster of discipline, it paves the way to success. We must be enlightened enough to focus on the things we do and boost our productivity to achieve goals in life. I realized this when I observed the management of time in big companies and organizations. They always give a specific time limit to their employees or departments to finish a task within a deadline. For example, suppose your company requires you to work 8 hours a day and solve 400 client cases, then you will have to do it and do it with efficiency. It is a proven fact that if we give ourselves a deadline, the probability of our finishing the work improves to a great extent. Now continuing with the example above, let's suppose that the employee does not have any deadline, then he may take 4 or 5 days to complete those 400 client cases. Most of us can relate to it, don't we?
