Reality vs Illusion

A poem on Coronavirus

Invisible kills of the known enemy
Death rules in a clogged economy
Fear, hunger, and misery reigns
The hunted humans burn in flames

 Gasping lives and weeping cries
Oxygen, oxygen everyone tries
No more, no more, supplier shouts
One more shroud, two more shrouds...

 All human development seems vain
Technology missed the destined  aim
Money, fame, and riches seem waste-
For people who now forever rest.

 Untouchability is sacred again
No one would touch the deadly strain
Helpless, poor drag the flesh
They can touch the invisible rash.

One on the cycle, one in the car-
Load the body, fight the war-
To the doctor's or the cremation's ground
Where the bed is still hard to be found

 Doctors cry and families cry,
Patients and loved ones together die
The hope is there; the hope is there
Sputnik, Covaxine and Covishield here

But It's not enough; the situation's rough
Production's limited, question's tough
Blessed is our country! we have won them over
With Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam's flavor

The world has awakened, dreams have broken
We have learned it again, though we are shaken
Nationality, religion, and race don't matter
We are one; these boundaries don't matter

But the dark creatures of the dark ocean
See the black light in the black sun
Driven by profit, success, and selfish gains
Ferry the souls to Lucifer's realm

If this morning does not wake them now
What will jolt them out of their dream?
Like Kumbhkarna, they will be brought low
Whose greed bought him slumber supreme.

The end of the virus doesn't seem near
But I am sure it will make us stronger.
For suffering bears the seed of wisdom-
To lay the foundation of a better kingdom
Where we can see past our differences-
To become united and destroy our fences.

I wish health and happiness to all of you. Be strong; this time too shall pass.
